Wow! Just wow!
A week ago, Swedish cross-country skier Ebba Andersson showed the most harrowing and admirable fighting spirit I’ve seen in a long time. She was one of four skiers in the Swedish women’s relay team. Sweden was the favourite to win, and they were in the lead when Ebba fell. Twice.
The second time, her ski broke, but it didn’t stop her. She managed to move forward with one ski for about 200 meters until a new one was handed to her.
The team was far behind the others by then, but miraculously, the phenomenal skiing team fought its way to a silver medal.
Talk about fighting spirit.
And today, on the final 2026 Winter Olympic day, Ebba entered the 50 km ski race. She was strong, she was determined, and she won.
Watching her ski today was a reminder that those challenging setback moments, when we question, berate and blame ourselves, can be the best moments. They can make us try harder; they can spur us on. They are a reminder that setbacks and imperfect results are indeed wonderful sources of inspiration – when we choose to look at them that way.
Congratulations, Ebba, and thank you for the inspiration!
