Research from the London School of Management shows that people remember 65-70% of the information in stories vs just 5-10 % of the information presented through numbers.
Stories can be truly magical and transformational – ask any kid!
What were the stories that swept you away as a child and helped you see new magical worlds of opportunity? Yes, stories are very impactful, yet they are sadly often missing in communication at work. That’s a mistake – and this is why…..
The first book we wrote was a business novel called ‘The Team Formula: A Leadership Tale of a Team who found their Way’. We could have written a regular business book to share our formula for working with teams. But we chose not to—not because we couldn’t, but because we felt so strongly about the power of storytelling. The impact was staggering—we have lost count of how many people have told us, “You could have been talking about us; I recognised so many of those situations!” And that’s the beauty of stories—they make theories and ideas real, tangible, and applicable.
The storytelling has continued in our following three books, although there they are short stories to bring the concepts to life.
